Drawn from a number of sessions he recorded in the late 40's for Savoy Records, 1955's "The Immortal Charlie Parker" finds Bird leading a number of talented quintets at the dawn of bebop. No less than Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, and Bud Powell worked as sidemen on these sessions, establishing a musical language that would underpin jazz, R&B, soul, and hip-hop for the coming 70 years. This Bird's Nest reissue features five contemporaneous bonus tracks on 180g green vinyl.
